Music+ is a super-simple iPhone app that “fixes” two issues I have with Apple’s Music app: lack of lyrics and queue functionality.
- Federico Viticcimacstories.netAll iPhone/iPod Touch users are already familiar with the native iPod/Music app. Music+ is made to enhance this native app with more features and without changing the already well-designed user experience. It is done this way so users can use Music+ app immediately.
Today, Apple does not allow us, developers, to make changes on the iTunes library from 3rd party apps. Unless Apple releases this capability in their Software Development Kit, those features will not be possible.
Most lyrics websites (providers) have their licenses to display full lyrics on their websites, however they cannot sub-license them. Because of that, Music+, since version 1.6.1, will not be able to download full lyrics automatically anymore. Instead, Music+ has a feature to automatically search for lyrics and display the links to the sites. Users are also able to write lyrics by themselves.
This is the same problem as updating play counts of songs. However, Music+ is able to save the lyrics inside the app. These saved lyrics can be accessed from the App section when your device is synced with iTunes. You can manually open and update the related songs in your iTunes database. See iTunes: Adding song lyrics to iPod
Currently, I am working on Music+ fulltime by myself. If anyone is interested in working together with me, please drop me an email here. Designers are very welcome because I really suck with design. :)
